Watch that hand, Blake. It's wandering a little there...

Here's a study worth checking out: "Who are the NFL's chattiest announcers?" I'd like to see a similar rundown for NBA announcers. And if they ever did something similar, but instead measured the size and commonality of the words used, Bill Walton would certainly be an outlier on that data sheet.

Nationally Televised Games:
Magic at Thunder, TNT, 8pm: Talk about a far cry from the craptacular assortment of games we've seen earlier in the week.

Heat at Nuggets, TNT, 10:30pm: So, will LeBron's injury not bother him most of the game, but mysteriously flare up and destroy his athletic ability as soon as the game gets close?

All The Other Games:
Wizards Generals at Timberwolves, 8pm: Really? Really?? I'm just going to point out one sobering stat once again: Washington is 0-18 on the road this year. It's January, and they still haven't won a single road game. Did anybody bother to tell them it's the actual game and not just practice? Ugh. This game gets my Seal of Disapproval:

Henry Abbott's constant defense of LeBron James is nauseating. That is all.

Can we add Cowherd to your list before "that is all" is complete? Please?

Remind me not to come here when people are posting Titangraphs about why LeBron farting in public or not answering a telemarketer call proves what a horrible person he is

King Crab, FYI is out for tonight. *Insert stale Karma joke here*

kazam92 - The main reason I find Abbott constantly defending LeBron so nauseating is because I can't help but juxtapose it with his treatment of Kobe over the years and feel he's a huge hypocrite. Here we have two players who are great on the court but who are generally considered to be huge douchebags off it. Yet for some reason Abbott assumes that everything we hear about Kobe being an ass is true, while saying that LeBron is apparently just misunderstood. LeBron deserves to get called out for his bullshit every bit as much as Kobe does. I just don't understand why Abbott seems to have such a personal stake in how LeBron is perceived. People hate him, but why does this bother Abbott so much? Does he think people are going to quit using PER and advanced stats as guidelines in the future if the guy those things say is the world's best player turns out to be a prick?

wild yams, i agree with you. abbott's got this obvious weird thing for lebron. it's like he's taken it upon himself to be his journalistic bodyguard.

Dwight Howard went 17-20 from the line, what the fuck? Mommy I'm scared, is the apocalypse imminent?

Congrats to Brandon Bass also for racking up a -16 in a 1-point game.

Mr. Yams - As with many things in life, I believe that money (or some other gratuity or reward) is prominently involved with the never-ending PR smokescreens and push for the product that is LeBron James. Maybe these nauseating hacks such as Abbott with ESPN, and Thomsen from SI--that paint all LBJ's critics (i.e. opposing fans) as idiots for not understanding King James, albeit what is there to understand other than he's a supreme douche--have some monthly or perhaps even per-article stipend for writing their own pro-James stories. My five cents on the matter.

If Miami comes back in this game, I will be amazed. It's almost impossible to win in Denver on the second night of a back-to-back when the first night is on the West Coast.

So players and coaches have been wearing lapel ribbons lately; most likely for MLK day and/or upcoming Black History Month.

At the risk of sounding insensitive, the ribbons look conspicuously like Cavs colors...

Just sayin...

Okay, simply put:

El (Oh El) Heat. Again.

Man, for the second game in a row the Nuggets absolutely dominated the 2nd and 3rd quarters, outscoring the cHeat 72-45 during those quarters. It wasn't too hard to see this Heat loss coming, and now the 96 Bulls' record is fully protected from Miami. Guess Jeff Van Gundy was wrong after all, shocking though it may be.

The more the Heat lose, the more excuses there are. That's why when the Celtics wipe out the Heat in the Eastern Finals, it'll be that much sweeter to hear ESPN fall over each other in an attempt to displace the blame as to why.

And Darko Milicic aka Manna from Heaven cheered us all up with an own-basket after a freethrowline tipp off. Way to push the attention away from a solid statline.

Darko. Just... wow. That's gotta be in the running for most bawful play of the season.
